Reader's Request 1

Okay,I'll start off with the first request of the month: Mr Eddie!!!Eddie,if you're reading this,it's just something healthy,so don't worry.

I knew Edmund when he just "transferred" from Primary School to Secondary, which was around 2001/2002.During those time,he was a quiet young boy, likes playing soccer.Yeah,I still remember the first time we played soccer together(TIPS vs TACS).

Why do we call him Eddie instead of Edmund?Think the story goes like this: We do have another "Ed" in church, but this "Ed" is named Edmond.Since Edmund and Edmond sounded the same,we had difficulty calling them.

A: Eh,have you seen Edmund?

B: Which Edmund are you referring to?

A: The small one lah.

B: What small one? What you mean?

A: Edmund Chan lah!(Faustrated)

B: Oh,I see. He's going for children church meeting.

Notice the tedious conversation?I don't think we like to call people big or small Edmund.Anyway, both are equally small in size.

So one day, there was this smart person who somehow invented another name for Edmund, perhaps a female, because that particular name "Eddie" is kinda...kinda...kinda...err...like a pet name(Think Wei Liang as Willie or Junwei as Junjun).

You know, having a pet name is not a good thing.First of all,you may not like the name.Secondly, you may not get use to it,therefore ignoring the call, which results in people thinking that you are "dao".

But in this case,Edmund get used to people calling him Eddie, and the tedious day is saved, thanks to whoever you are.

The calling of Eddie may only applies for the youth and some of the TUF people. It won't work on the adult,so that is why I always use Edmund in front of the adult. Why can't we use Eddie instead?Because wehaveanadultwhosenameiscalledEddieandheisgoingtogetmarriedsoon!

Recently he shared his testimony during Saturday @ Seven, which to me was a very brave attempt.Well Edmund grew up alot both physically and spiritually, especially his faith towards God.He may not think it this way,but this was what I believe.By leading as a guitarist both in praise and worship and children church is another step to spiritual growth.

That's partly all for Eddie. We'll continue with part 2 tomorrow,because...

We'll be having BBQ birthday party!Get your stomach ready!
